My Brother In The Hospital By: Selena
Life has been very hard for me but the most horrible thing happened to my brother. I could not believe my brother was going through this. He is my only brother and I had no idea what would happen to him.
My brother had been in pain for the past week. On Friday, my brother was in the worst pain of his life. It was 11:00 at night and my mother and I were really worried.
“What are we going to do mom? “ I asked nervously. “Let’s wait and see what happens” my mom answered. After a while we decided to take him to the emergency room.
While we entered the emergency room, I heard people crying and screaming. I sat down with my brother in the waiting room. My mom signed my brother in the waiting list. After a while they called my brother’s name. We went with my brother into the room so they can check him. They asked us what was wrong with my brother and we told the doctor that he had been having pain in the stomach all week but that today he was feeling worse.
So then the doctor took my brother into a room and they touched his stomach to see what was the problem. Then my brother started to cry in pain. Then the doctor said “Your child is going to need a cat-scan”. A cat-scan is like an x-ray but it shows the problem that the person has instead of just the bones.
The doctors took my brother to a different room to do the cat-scan. I had to stay outside with my mom because the doctor said that if we were inside the room something would go wrong. After the cat-scan the doctors took my brother to a room in the hospital with a bed. My brother fell asleep on the bed, since he was very tired. My mom and I waited until the doctors came with results from the cat-scan.
After a while I saw a lot of doctors outside the room they were talking about what they would tell my mother. Then they came into the room. “Your child will need an operation” the doctors said. My mother and I were shocked to hear that. “When will he have the operation?” my mother asked worriedly. “Tomorrow at 1:00 P.M.” the doctor said. “There will be a nurse coming to pick him up” they said.
Then the next day the nurse brought breakfast for my brother to eat when he woke up. After a while my brother woke up and ate his breakfast. The doctors took my brother to the operation room. The doctors said “We will tell you when we are done”. “It will take about 3 hours” the doctor said. So then we waited outside in the waiting room.
After 3 hours past the doctor came to us and said “We are finished, would you like to see your son?” My mom went but I had to stay in the waiting room. After a few minutes I saw my dad and he said “Is your brother ok?” “I don’t know” I answered worriedly. “You can go see him” I said. My dad said “I’ll just wait”. “Ok” I answered sadly.
Then my mom told us to go to the 4th floor. So my dad and I went to the 4th floor to see my brother. We went into my brother’s room and saw him sleeping. The doctors came in and said “Your son will leave in about a week”. After a week my brother was feeling much better. The doctors came into his room and said “Your son may pack his stuff and go home”. So my brother got ready and we left home. My brother was very happy.
My brother felt bad in that week he stayed in the hospital. He cried the whole week because he was frustrated, mad, angry, and impatient. When they had told him that he could leave he was so happy. He came out the hospital the first day of school. The doctors told him he couldn’t go to school until next week. That was how my brother spent his summer. I could not imagine living life without my brother. It is so important to take care of the people who you love.

Dear Selena,
You have done a spendid job showing your emotions for your brother. In your memoir you included lots of information and data about your experience over the summer. I hope you can keep writing wonderful memoirs like this one.
