The Big Glass

By: Rosario

It was a Saturday morning. Everything was going good. My brother and I were watching a show. We usually talk to each other when we watch a show. We were watching the show “yu-gi-oh gx”.  “Yo! Who do you think is going to win?” asked my brother. “Of course Aster Phenox the best.” I replied. “He does not know how to duel, Yaden is going to win. “I just hope that no one breaks that new glass cup that mom bought yesterday.” I told my brother. “You do know that Jeremy is in the kitchen.” My brother told me. “There’s one out of a million chances that he’s going to find that cup.” I replied.          I started to get bored. This was weird because I was never bored. My dad called me. He asked me if I could go down to buy him something. I said yes. I was getting ready to go down. “Hey, where are you going?” asked my brother. “I’m going down to buy something for dad. As I was getting ready, I was wondering what Jeremy was doing in the kitchen. I was hoping that Jeremy was not messing with the cups. When I was coming back from the store, I heard something break. At first, I thought that Jeremy had broken the cup, but then I remembered that other people live in this building. I didn’t panic at all. I remembered that I needed to do homework, so I hurried to my house.          I came to my house. I gave my father the groceries. At first I thought about asking him if something happened but then I decided not to tell him. I came to my room. I started to do my homework. Homework was very boring. I thought that nothing in the world can make homework fun. Not even listening to music while doing it. Just the thought of work was not fun. This is why I always like rushing through it. My mother says not to rush thru it because if my teacher checks the homework, I might embarrass myself by getting everything wrong.          I had finally finished my homework. I was so happy. I didn’t have to do work for the rest of the weekend. My father called me. “You have to take care of Jeremy.” He said. “Why do I always have to take care of Jeremy?” I asked. I really didn’t like taking care of Jeremy. He’s just a pain in the back. I left him alone for a couple of minutes. I thought that he would not do anything. I had not seen him since this morning so I knew I was taking a risk. When I went in the kitchen, I went crazy. “Why did you do this you possessed kid! Now I’m in trouble and it’s all because of you. At that time, I was so angry that I forgot to put my sandals back on. You know what happened already.          “Ow! MY foot! My foot! My foot! What did I do to deserve this? God what did I do” I screamed.  As soon as my father heard me, he came running to me. “What happened to you?” asked my father. “A piece of glass went in my foot.” I replied screaming. My father quickly called my mother and told her the news. She was so worried. I could tell just by hearing how loud she was speaking. After about ten minutes lying on the bed, I told my father to just take me to the hospital tomorrow. He said ok.          When I went to bed, my foot started hurting again. I tried to ignore it but it hurt so much. It took a long time to go to sleep. The next day, my father and I started getting ready to go to the hospital. Every time I stepped on my right foot it started to hurt. When I got to the hospital, I didn’t have to wait long. They took x-rays of my foot. The doctor said that he’s going to have to do an operation on my foot. I was really scared. When he was about to start, he put some very cold water on my foot. When he started, I didn’t feel a thing. Next thing I know, the operation was done. When I put my sneakers back on, I didn’t feel a thing. I was so happy.          I learned something from this experience. One thing that I learned was that accidents can happen to anyone. I was upset at my brother for being clumsy and then hurt myself with the same glass that he broke. You should also always clean up carefully after an accident. I learned that the hard way. That is what I learned.
