My First Bird Is Dead
By: Franklin
One fine summer day I was sleeping in my bed. I was fully relaxed snuggled up in my bed as my mother woke up making breakfast. After a while my body twitched and I woke up. I felt very cranky but I woke up very happy. I was listening to the radio. Suddenly my mother and said “come here!” I put on my slippers and I rushed through the halls with a lot of excitement. The moment I saw my mother with her frowning face I was heartbroken. My first bird named Miles was found dead in his cage with my other bird who was very silent. I started to stare and then I started to cry. I was never this sad in my whole life. I was full of shame because I did not take care of them. After a while, I stopped crying. I shook him to make sure he was dead and he was. That day my life was ruined. Later my mom told me some good news. She said “I will by you a new one in one month”. Instead of being thankful and happy I was very sad because no bird could replace him. Later my father picked me up and I got over it. I was once again happy. Before we threw the body away I said a few words. After that day I never saw him again. Now I am taking good care of my bird. I got a new one five months ago but he died as well. So now I have bird which is the same bird that was there when miles died. My lesson learned is that you have to appreciate the things you have in life now before they leave your life forever.
