KAPPA IV Memoir - Mr. Almanzar

                      THE DROWNING

    My dad drove me to New Jersey. While he was driving, I was thinking if I could go into the deep water in their pool. Then my dad with a happy voice said, “We’re here”. I got out of the car and went inside the house.  My cousin and I went up stairs to go play some video games on the Xbox 360. I asked him in a firm voice “When are we going to go to the pool?”.   

   We went downstairs to eat some dinner. I was still thinking about going into the deep water in the pool. My aunt was yelling “David and Pedro get ready to go to the pool”. So I went to the bathroom to change into my swimsuit. Then my Aunt sadly “Sorry! We can’t go to the pool. It is too dirty”.     

  Then the next day I got up and started to watch TV. Then my aunt softly said “Go eat breakfast so we can go to the supermarket”. So I went to my cousin’s room and woke him up so we could get ready to go to the supermarket. We go to the supermarket and we all go back home. My aunt asks us “you want to go to the pool after we eat dinner.   

   We both ran upstairs like crazy animals to change into our new swimsuits. We both ran and got into the blue van. My cousin and I went to his friends and told him if he wants to go to the pool today. We got to the giant mansion. We all ran to the pool and just jumped right in.  But I stayed out for awhile. My cousin jumped out and tried to push me into the water but he could not because I held a chair that could not move at all.  

     Then I let go of the chair but then my cousin popped out and then pushed me into the deep water. I was very scared. I thought it was the end for me but then my cousin springs into action and saved me from what I thought was the end of my life. My cousin saved me and then I looked up into the blue sky. The birds were chirping a wonderful song that went through my mind. My aunt ran to me and brought me some food to get my strength up from swimming.   

    My cousin asked “you want to go home and watch some TV” and I laughing “sure buddy”. We went home and found my uncle sleeping on top of the couch after watching a baseball game. Instead of watching TV my cousin and I went upstairs to play video games. Then we decided to watch a movie. We were both so tired that we fell asleep at the attic because we were so tried that we could not move. What a crazy experience this was. Things don’t always work out the way you think they will. But you move on in life hoping not to make the same mistake again.
