Fainting
By: Bianca
The morning sun hit my face. I knew it was morning, but felt lazy and did not want to get up. I wanted to stay sleeping. I ended up waking up for school because my mom tickled me. As a six year old girl, school was the last thing on my mind. I was only looking forward to see my friends and my teacher Ms. Mayor. She was a kind and fun teacher. When I brushed my teeth, took a bath, got dressed, and did my hair my mom took me to school. My mom took me to the lunchroom were everyone was having breakfast. I sat down kissed my mom good-bye and talked to my friends. About twenty minutes later it was time to go to the auditorium for morning announcements. Then we went up to our classes with our teacher. In class the day was normal. The lessons were fun as usual. A couple of hours later it as lunch time. When my class started to line up my head started to ache. “My head hurts.” I told my friend shyly. “Tell Ms. Cosme.” My friend replied. I stepped off the line. “My head hurts.” I told Ms. Cosme softly. “I’ll take you to the nurse in two minutes.” She replied caringly. I then sat down on the lunch benches that were connected to the table. After a minute or so something happened. I was seeing different colors. Next, thing I know it I blackout. I opened my eyes and saw the ceiling. “Where am I?”, “Where is everyone?”, and “What happened to me?” are questions running threw my head. As I turned my head my eye drooped and my head felt as it will explode any second. “She is all right!” Ms. Cosme anxiously and nervously shouted. I smelled bread and butter in the air. The nurse was eating bread with butter. “Do you want a piece?” she asked. My stomach grumbled and I nodded my head. She then gave me a piece of bread. About half an hour later my mom came. She was screaming, but, then calmed down. When the ambulance people came they put me in a wheel chair and put me in the ambulance. Inside the ambulance I lied down on a hospital bed. I was staring at the ceiling. The ceiling had mobiles of planets. They took me to the hospital I go to. I was sent to the emergency room. The doctors did my blood pressure and told me to just lay down when I fell if as I want to faint. After an hour I went home. The next day during lunch I fainted again. The same process had happened again. This time my grandma went with me to the hospital in the ambulance while my mom rushed the hospital from work. At the hospital I waited in the emergency room. My mom got their about 5 minutes before I was seen. This time after checking my blood pressure the doctors asked me questions. One question is “Did you eat breakfast today?” I slowly replied “No.” They told me my blood sugar goes down so I have to drink a lot of fluids like orange juice. The doctors wanted to record my heart for a day with a special machine. They then sent me home. When we gave the machine back the next day we had to wait another day for the results. When the results came in my heart sounded fine. I also felt fine. This condition helped me learn that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you don’t eat it you can have bad consequences. You have to take care of yourself because no one else will take care of you. The End
