My First Homerun!!!!!!
By: John
It was august 9. I was on my way to my baseball game. During practice I was talking with my friend Simon. I told him that today is the day I hit a homerun. Don’t get to cocky man cause really look at that fence it is huge and you are small so there is like a 5% chance that you can hit a homerun. Do you have to bring my confidence down? I am not saying you can’t hit a homerun but you have to look at the facts it is almost impossible for you to hit a homerun. It was game time and I was nervous. I bat first. But no luck I hit a ground out. I wasn’t mad because in baseball you get to bat like 4 times or even more if you’re lucky. It took some time but I batted again. I stroke out. I was mad I can’t believe I stroke out. But I wasn’t mad because I might still get to bat again. The next time I went to bat I stroke out. Now I was furious. I can’t believe I stroke out again. I threw my helmet on the floor and my bat against the wall. I sat on the bench and started talking to my self saying a lot of bad stuff. Then my friend Simon came over and said “don’t worry and stop swinging for homerun just hit for contact and when your time comes you will hit a homerun ok”. “Fine but I hope I hit a homerun because I am hitless so far”. When I went up to bat I was nervous. My hands were shaking, sweat was coming down arm. The first pitch came but I let it pass by for a strike. The second pitch came. I swung but missed. I had 2 strikes. My head was going crazy. I didn’t want to be hitless. The next pitch was a ball and so was the next. I stepped out the batters box to take a breather. When I stepped in the batters box my mind was just about to blow. The pitcher got ready to pitch. He finally pitched the ball. I just swung. Then I heard the BAM!!!!! I looked up and saw the ball in the air. It kept going back and back. Then it went over the gate. I couldn’t believe what I saw. I just hit my first homerun. We went on to win the game. When the game finished we had a BBQ with the team. I was so happy because it was basically my dream to hit a homerun. I learned to expect the unexpected.
